Olive Shoots Family Podcast

A weekly podcast where we cover all things family, parenting, and homesteading with a Biblical perspective. First and foremost we are striving to know and trust Jesus more everyday and to live generously with what we’ve been given, that includes our children. Children are a blessing and we believe that when we seek to raise them in the way of the Lord our families are able to have an eternal spiritual impact on the people around us.

In this weeks episode, we talk about what it means to be an adventurous man and a content woman - to be the people that God is forming us to be. Our hope is that as God shapes who you are, He will lead you to become better husbands, wives, moms, and dads.
We’ve recently had a lot of conversations about Spiritual warfare and the impact it has even on our kids. In this episode, we talk about what that has looked like in our family and practical action steps we’ve taken to combat the enemy.
She has arrived! Our daughter was recently born and we are adjusting to life with her! This week, we talk about the differences between the changes from one kid to two and also talk about the joys of getting to encourage and foster sibling relationships.
We’ve put together some more questions to ask each other! Welcome to Table Talk - a recurring episode we will occasionally come back to where Brittany and I ask each other fun and relevant questions. Psalm 128 says “blessed is everyone who fears the Lord… your children will be like olive shoots around your table.” Get to know our “Table” as we explore topics on faith, family, parenting, and homesteading.
It is easy to fall into the trap that we aren't good enough or at least that we aren't as good as someone else. This week, we talk about how to avoid that trap and to focus on what God has uniquely called our families towards.

Everybody has a theology, or a thought about God. And whether we realize it or not, we are passing those ideas about God to our children. This week, we talk about how to be intentional about building a foundational theology in our children before we send them out into the world.
This past year has been a crazy one for us. We reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness throughout the past as we look to the near future towards our daughters birth. His faithfulness leads us to a deeper trust in Him.
It can be daunting to share the story of Jesus to your kids, especially when the Bible is filled with some really difficult topics. This week, we talk about how to talk to your kids about Jesus, how to guide them through difficult topics and questions, and how to read the Bible to or with your little ones.
When God calls us to something it often leads us outside of our comfort zone. But what He leads us towards has a great reward! This week we get the opportunity to talk with Kyle and Manda about how God had led them to step out in faith and start a small group for married couples.
This week we had the special opportunity of having one of my cousins and his wife join us! They are people Nathan and I both look up to in many aspects of life and can’t wait for y’all to hear some of their story. This week they share their journey through a period of waiting to starting their homesteading adventure and how God provided along the way. We learned some practical tips as well as some biblical perspective in different seasons of life and are excited to share it with you. Thank you for listening!

We all have ideas about what parenting should look like; whether those are shaped by our own parents or others around us. On top of that, Scripture and the thoughts of our spouse should also shape how we parent. This week, we give our perspective on how to navigate the difficulties of parenting as a team with your spouse.
This week is special. It’s our 20th episode of the podcast and the day this is released is actually our 3rd anniversary! So we decided to do something fun - Nathan and I both wrote down a list of questions to ask each other and neither of us know what questions we’re gonna be asked.
Love should be at the core of every marriage, but not just any kind of love, a First Corinthians 13 kind of love. In this episode, we talk about the five love languages - a tool to point us back to what Scripture moves us towards - and we look to the love chapter to remind us how to love our spouse well.
